Woman looking at Emergenetics Profile and computer screen during Associate Certification

In my conversations with HR and L&D professionals, I often hear similar questions about what the Emergenetics Associate Certification entails and the impact our practitioners can have.

Let’s explore the most frequently asked queries so you can make an informed decision about becoming an Emergenetics expert.

The Business Case for Certification

Why should I become Certified in Emergenetics?

Certification gives you practical tools to drive positive change for leaders, teams and organizations. Here’s what you’ll gain:

  • Facilitate essential skill building – You’ll be equipped to lead our two essential workshops and Profile debriefs, introducing individuals and teams to their Thinking and Behavioral preferences and providing practical applications to improve important soft skills like collaboration, communication and emotional intelligence.
  • Design better training experiences – With insights into the ways people prefer to think and behave and an introduction to our custom reports, you’ll get new tools to create training programs that resonate with staff, so they’re engaged and equipped to turn knowledge into action.
  • Scale implementation strategically – Certification enables you to introduce and grow Emergenetics throughout your organization. Many of the companies I work with incorporate it into onboarding, leadership development, team development, change management and more.
  • Maximize cost-effectiveness – Becoming Certified is often more cost-effective than repeatedly hiring external facilitators. If you expect to use Emergenetics over the long-term or with several teams, it’s worth a conversation.

What return on investment can I expect from Certification?

Emergenetics is a flexible and customizable framework that’s often applied to amplify leadership effectiveness, improve employee engagement, elevate team performance and strengthen organizational culture.

The return on investment depends on your specific applications, and we often quantify the impact by connecting our solutions to savings on common pain points like productivity gaps, miscommunication and disengagement. You can use our calculators to run your own analysis and estimate your return on investment!

Why choose Emergenetics over other assessment tools?

The practitioners I work with often comment on five main differences that set Emergenetics apart:

➡ Comprehensive measurement

While many tools assess either thinking or behavior, Emergenetics measures both, providing a more complete picture of how people operate, interact and collaborate.

➡ Strength-based approach

Rather than highlighting deficits, our assessment reveals preferences and reinforces that you can access every Attribute – it just may take more work. This presentation supports scalability because employees are more likely to embrace a tool that makes them feel valued.

➡ Simple yet not simplistic

The seven Attributes provide meaningful depth and insight into a person’s preferred work style, while still allowing for easy comparability. With our one-page Profile and Narrative Report, participants can quickly obtain actionable information and additional details as needed.

➡ Scientifically validated

With high test-retest reliability and data re-normed every two years, the science behind Emergenetics is solid. This validity matters when you need to defend your training investments to executives.

➡ Applicable for teams, not just individuals

The model is founded on the understanding that when different Thinking and Behavioral styles combine, they produce better results and higher performing organizations. Our solutions support staff at all levels.

Who is the ideal candidate for Certification?

I typically recommend the program for professionals who:

  • Want to offer Emergenetics through coaching or training long-term
  • Are interested in scaling or introducing Emergenetics inside an organization through onboarding, leadership development or team experiences
  • Are looking to integrate Emergenetics into existing curriculum

Certified Associates often come from learning and development, human resources and talent development roles, as well as independent consultants who work across multiple organizations or in leadership and executive coaching.

The Certification Experience

What does the Certification program include?

Certification is a comprehensive blended learning experience offered virtually and in-person. The program includes:

  • Pre-work: Complete your Emergenetics Profile if you haven’t already and two eLearnings to review the basics of Emergenetics and prepare for the training.
  • Day One: You’ll participate in a Meeting of the Minds workshop to experience one of the programs you will be trained to lead as well as gain an overview of Emergenetics concepts, vocabulary and framework. eLearnings are interspersed throughout the day.
  • Day Two: The focus shifts to putting concepts into practice. You’ll cover reporting, grouping methods and dive into our technical report to understand our science. The day includes a round-robin presentation where you receive feedback from an Emergenetics Master Associate and fellow participants.
  • Post-certification: Complete a final eLearning and assessment to receive your designation.

How much time should I commit to the Certification?

The program runs from about 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM over two full days, although timing may vary by region. While it includes some self-paced eLearning, I recommend blocking off both days to get the most value from the interactive sessions and peer learning.

What resources do I receive after Certification?

After successfully completing the course, you’ll gain access to:
